Scotts Landing North Auckland Beach

Scotts Landing North of Auckland a Great Beach for a Family Picnic

There lots of beautiful beaches in the Northland Region and many of them are is easy reach for a great day trip out from Auckland.

Scotts Landing is one of my many chosen picnic spots in the Rodney area and I have had some magic days here with family and friends.

Scotts Landing  is a small often sheltered beach located near the entrance to Mahurangi River of which runs up into Warkworth.

How To Get To Scotts Landing Beach?

The beach is about a 15 to 20 minutes drive from Warkworth township as you drive out to
Mahurangi East past Snells Beach , Algies Bay and following the road you turn off to the left instead of continuing down into Martins Bay. Not a bad road a little windy with pockets of views of the Mahurangi River to the right  of the road as you travel out.

There are two things that you need to be aware of with this beach . First during a hot summers day the parking is not always the best . I have often had to park up the narrow road and walk a little to get down to the bay. The second is the tide goes out little way so the best swimming time is a couple of hours next to high tide. Perfect if it is a lunch time tide.

Scotts Landing is a popular place for fishing and many people fish from the car park. There is also a boat ramp , wharf. and toilets at the car park.

See recent photos from a day at Scotts.Landing off cause out highlight that day was a sea plane that came in to the bay.
